Infants & Newborns
Infants are best photographed in the comfort of their home. They should be well fed and dry before the session beings. Feeding, changing, and cuddling breaks are expected. Very young infants are best photographed when they are sleepy. Loosening the diaper and removing socks 30 minutes before the session will help eliminate red marks on the baby's body. Babies look best in light colors, pastels, or just a diaper. You are encouraged to bring favorite toys for entertainment and props. If you want a special montage from the session, please let me know before the session begins.

Children
Children should be well-rested and often look best with bare feet. Please, do not coach your children to smile or say "cheese" -- the goal is to capture all their cute natural expressions. You are encouraged to bring favorite toys for entertainment and props as well as any snacks they might like. If you want a special montage from the session, please let me know before the session begins.

Maternity
Maternity portraits allow for a lot of creativity and can include the mom only or the entire family. The choice of clothing is totally up to you - anything you're comfortable with. A current favorite is that of a white flowing body wrap that conveys a simple yet graceful elegance. Depending on the style of portraits you want, you shouldn't wear anything elastic or tight fitting the day of the session anywhere you plan on exposing skin. Drink plenty of water the day before the session. You are encouraged to bring baby shoes and toys as well as any other props you'd like. Please be sure to let me know your favorite flower when you make the appointment.

Makeup and Hair
Haircuts and styling are best if done several days prior to the session. With makeup, use enough powder base for a matte finish to avoid any shiny appearance on your face. Pay special attention to your eyes - they are the most powerful part of the photograph.
Glasses are usually not a problem unless they are very thick. Careful control of the lighting and your positioning will reduce or prevent any lens glare.

Traditional Portraits
If you want a more traditional portrait: Sleeveless/spaghetti tops should be avoided, and if you are looking for full-length photos, it's best to wear long pants, longer skirts, etc. This will keep the focus on your face - not your legs. Men will look best in long sleeves and clean shaven or a nicely trimmed moustache/beard. Avoid busy patterns, logos and bright colors. Solid colors are best and darker colors are more slimming. For group sessions, try to use the same tones and styles of attire within the group.

Modern Portraits
This is portraiture that shows you and/or your family as they are. No forced, unnatural poses. No forced smiles. Newborns sleeping, infants playing, children acting silly and you being yourself. Wear jeans, shorts, mini-skirts - whatever you want. Include your dog, cat or parakeet. A portrait is meant to show you and your family at that moment - not what others think you should be. So, have fun with it and be yourself.

Ideas
If you have a specific "look" you'd like to try, please let me know and feel free to bring magazine pages, etc. showing what you want. Props can create a more natural or dramatic photograph - such as: flowers, uniform, hat, musical instruments, stuffed animals, etc.
